Fearful that it's a motherboard problem, I open up the tower and disconnected the hard disk drive. I'm hesitant to do this because it entails installing all the software, etc on this computer. Uninstalled and installed several times, getting error 2738.

If I go ahead and install Windows 7 RC1 (the public release that was given out in July), will the recovery discs automatically overwrite that? Any solutions without reinstalling Windows? I've tested the harddisk with another computer, and haven't had any issues accessing the hdd.
